Cops were called to the corner of Utica Avenue and Avenue J Friday following a multi-vehicle accident involving an NYPD cruiser and a truck belonging to a city agency. As this paper went to press, it was unclear what sparked the October 10 accident. Witnesses said that the police cruiser and another vehicle impacted with a 38,000-pound Department of Transportation dump truck rumbling through the intersection at noon. When the dust settled, a portion of the police cruiser was found jammed underneath the truck, officials said. The other car involved in the impact apparently bounced off the truck and hit a parked car. The civilian motorist and both police officers were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. The man behind the wheel of the dump truck was shaken, but otherwise uninjured, officials said.
