Cops: Attempted drive-by shooting in Red Hook

76th Precinct

Carroll Gardens-Cobble Hill–Red Hook

Drive-by

Police arrested an alleged gunslinger who they said attempted a drive-by shooting on Van Brunt Street on April 3, according to a report.

The intended victim told cops he was sitting outside a building between Sullivan and Wolcott streets at 7:20 pm when the alleged shooter, who the victim knew, drove by in a black Ford pick-up truck and aggressively stared the victim down, police said.

In response to the adversarial staring match the alleged attacker circled the block and upon his return let out two shots through the open driver’s-side window in the direction of the victim, according to a report. Police later recovered one spent bullet from a small-caliber handgun, a report said.

The alleged shooter, who lives in Staten Island but hails from Red Hook, turned himself in at the 76th Precinct station house, where cops collared him and charged him with reckless endangerment and depraved indifference to human life, according to a report.
