A man was arrested Monday for allegedly killing his girlfriend and then leaving the couple’s toddler with the dead body.
Police arrested the 41-year-old man yesterday afternoon and charged him with second-degree murder and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police took the man into custody after they found a woman dead in the bathroom of her South Williamsburg apartment. Cops say the woman was either suffocated or strangled.
Officers discovered the body of 32-year-old Melissa Torres at 7:30 am Sunday in her apartment on the ground floor of the Taylor-Wythe Houses, at the corner of Clymer Street and Wythe Avenue. The cops came to check on Torres after friends called to say they were worried about her, police said.
The suspect also lived in the apartment, police say. A medical examiner has not yet determined the exact cause of death.
