Cops: Man steals cheese, threatens workers with razor blade

A 51-year-old man was arrested for threatening Broadway grocery store clerks with a razor blade after they accused him of trying to steal $55 worth of cheese on March 18.

An employee told police that the man walked into the supermarket between Keap and Hooper streets at 2 pm and put the large bricks of cheese in his pants. When the staff approached him, he whipped out the blade, cops reported.

Workers called cops and officers cuffed a suspect on robbery charges.

That is what’s up

A pair of friendly robbers shook a man down for his iPhone and wallet on Berry Street on March 18.

The victim told police he was walking between S. Ninth and S. 10th streets at 1:30 am when two men started walking next to him and made conversation.

“What’s up, dude?” one asked.

The thug then whipped out a long knife and stuck it against the victim’s neck. He threw the victim to the ground and pulled his wallet, iPhone, and $7 out of his pockets. They then then ran off down Berry Street.

Giving chase

A 27-year-old woman thwarted a pair of robbers who tried to steal her property on March Avenue on March 19.

The victim told police she was walking home near S. Fourth Street at 9:30 pm when a man grabbed her and put his hand over her mouth. Another assailant pulled her purse from her shoulder and the pair fled.

But the woman chased them until they threw her purse to the ground and ran off. The woman got her property back and was not injured.

G-train robbery

A pick-pocket stole a woman’s iPhone as she got on the G train at Metropolitan Avenue station on March 19.

The victim told police that she saw the thief waiting on the platform next to her as she waited for at the station near Lorimer Street at 7 pm. When the train arrived and the doors opened, she stepped onto the train and felt the man put his hand inside her left coat pocket.

She turned around to see him running down the platform, and the doors closed before she could get out.

Deliverance

A worker at a Chinese restaurant was robbed at knifepoint when he tried to make a delivery on S. Third Street on March 20.

The victim told police that as he walked into the lobby of a building between Rodney and Keap streets at 10 pm, a robber put a knife in his face and grabbed his iPhone and $150 in cash.

The deal is going down

Police arrested an angry businessman who they say beat another man over the head with a belt buckle on Metropolitan Avenue on March 23.

The victim told police that he and the assailant were discussing money at his business between Morgan and Vandervoort avenues at 12:40 pm when the pair got into an argument.

The perp starting punching the victim with his fists and pulled off his belt and hit the victim in the back the head with the buckle, causing a gash, cops said.

The bleeding victim was taken Elmhurst Hospital by ambulance and cops cuffed a 39-year-old man on assault charges.
