Cops: Suspect smashes man’s car with tire iron

A man was arrested for allegedly attacking another guy’s car with a tire iron on Grand Street on Sept. 30.

The victim told police that he was stopped at the corner of Havemeyer Street at 5:45 pm when the angry assailant in front of him got out of his car, pulled a tire iron out of his trunk, and start bashing the car.

Police charged the man, who allegedly caused more than $700 in damages, with menacing, criminal mischief and harassment.

Smash and grab

A guy was busted for allegedly breaking into a 2005 Pontiac parked on Wilson Street on Sept. 29.

The brother of the victim told police that he heard the alleged thief smash the glass to the car, which was parked at the corner of Kent Avenue, at 5:15 am. He then he saw the suspect pull his brother’s property — including a charity box, credit card, electric sign and compact disc holder — out of the car, police reported. The alleged thief then allegedly smashed the electric sign on the ground, and the brother ran downstairs and grabbed the rest of the goods out of suspect’s hand.

The man was charged with grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, criminal mischief and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
