Detectives are continuing to fall further down the rabbit hole in their search to identify the remains of a middle-aged man who surfaced off the coast of Manhattan Beach.
A month after the grisly May 21 discovery near the corner of Shore Boulevard and Exeter Street, detectives have yet to name the mysterious victim who was found with five-pound weights tied to his wrists and ankles.
In order to generate more leads, cops have begun circulating a sketch of what the victim looked like when alive, hoping someone will identify him.
If his clothes are any indication, the victim may have been looking forward to a night on the town before he died.
Police said that the man, who is believed to be in his early 50s, was wearing a black vest, a black button down shirt and dress pin-stripe pants. He was also wearing stylish ankle-length boots, police said.
The victim is described as 5-foot-8, 200 pounds and had short, greying hair.
No gunshot wounds or stab wounds were found on the man. An initial autopsy proved inconclusive, pending further tests, according to a spokeswoman for the city’s Medical Examiner’s office.
But while cops cannot say that the dapper dead man was murdered, the weights make it clear he was dumped in the waters off of Manhattan Beach.
“[He] may have been a victim of a crime,” a poster about the victim notes.
