Cut for a cigarette

A 31-year-old man had his face ripped open after he gave a sinister stranger a cigarette last week.

Cops said that they were still trying to make heads or tails of the attack on East 28th Street and Quentin Road just before 4 a.m. on October 7.

The victim, 31, told investigators that he was walking along the street when a 6’3”, 180-pound black male in his late 20s approached, asking if he could spare a smoke.

When the victim took out a butt, the stranger took out a knife, which he used to slash the left side of the victim’s face open from his chin to his cheek.

The victim was rushed to New York Community Hospital for treatment. His attacker was still at large as this paper went to press.

This guy had so many electronics on him that he could have been confused with a cyborg.

But it didn’t take Robocop to bust 20-year-old Ardiles Myres, just a few eagle-eyed officers from the 63rd Precinct.

Cops charged Myres with three counts of criminal possession of stolen property after allegedly finding items from three different thefts on his person on October 13.

Officials said that Myres was taken into custody on Avenue N near East 50th Street when the cops allegedly caught him with an iPod and a digital hard drive that had just been reported stolen. The items were secreted in his backpack, officials alleged.

The officers took him to the stationhouse on Brooklyn Avenue, where they allegedly found two GPS devices reported stolen from two other thefts.

An area man was attacked following an argument on Avenue L in Flatlands.

The victim said that he was inside an apartment near Troy Avenue at 4 p.m. back on October 3 when he got into an argument allegedly with 47-year-old Fogo O’Neil.

Following a heated exchange of words, O’Neil allegedly punched the man in the face twice, leaving him bruised and bloody.

O’Neil’s alleged victim reported the incident to police, who picked up the 47-year-old on October 12 on charges in assault in the third degree and menacing.

A Midwood woman was arrested last week on charges that she had taken a belt to her four-year-old grandson on a city street.

Officials allege that the woman, who was not named because of her relationship to the victim, attacked the four-year-old on Coney Island Avenue near Avenue N.

The boy, who lives in Flatbush, suffered some bruises on his legs.

His grandmother was taken into custody on October 13 and charged with assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Thieves broke into Shawarma Ave. P, 1022 Avenue P at Coney Island Avenue last week, taking $300 in receipts, police said.

Workers told police that someone busted in through the back door sometime after 1:30 a.m. on October 10.

The thieves reportedly removed $100 from a cash register, as well as an additional $200 in a change box in the basement.

The restaurant safe was found knocked over on its side, but unopened, officials said.

Cops were still looking for the thieves as this paper went to press.

A 55-year-old Midwood property owner had his hand slashed open when he quarreled with his tenant over the rent last week, police alleged.

The victim said that he went up to the third-floor apartment at 5:15 a.m. October 14 and demanded the rent from his 41-year-old boarder.

During the ensuing argument, the tenant allegedly grabbed a piece of glass from a broken picture frame and lunged, cutting the victim’s left hand.

Cops took the tenant, identified in police reports as Robert Hartung, into custody a short time later, charging him with assault.

A 67-year-old woman was attacked on a city bus rolling through Midwood after she locked eyes with a violent 16-year-old.

As of this writing, cops were still looking for the teen responsible for hitting and scratching the senior on a B44 bus rolling by the corner of Kings Highway and Nostrand Avenue.

Police were told that the woman was on the bus at 6 p.m. on October 9 when the surly 16-year-old flashed her a dirty look.

“What are you looking at?” the woman asked before the teen pounced.

The victim suffered a few minor cuts. Her attacker got off the bus at the next stop and ran away, cops were told.

Police are expanding their search for the gunmen responsible for opening fire on two Old Mill Basin residents last week.

Officials were told that two masked men entered a home on East 58th Street near Avenue K just after 8:30 a.m. on October 5 and opened fire on a 38-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man they found inside.

The female victim was struck twice in the leg, officials said. The male suffered a gunshot wound to the arm.

Witnesses said that the unidentified suspects fled the area in a brown jeep.

Police were still searching for the gunmen, who they believe specifically targeted the couple, as this paper went to press. Detectives are looking into the possibility that the victims had a previous history with their assailants, who they may know, according to sources.
