Eating out is always a treat, even more so when you know that treating yourself to a wonderful meal will help raise money for a good cause.
Beginning June 1, Brooklyn’s third annual Dining Out for a Cure will kick off, thanks to the efforts of Park Slope resident Lenore Arons, a breast cancer survivor seeking to raise money for the Avon Foundation’s Breast Cancer Crusade. Through the promotion, restaurants will donate a percentage of their receipts on a specific night to the crusade.
“Given the economic times we’re living in now, I think it’s really fabulous that these restaurant owners are participating in these events for the second or third year,” noted Arons. “In conversations with each owner, it is very clear that they not only support the cause but, even more, are eager to contribute time, energy and money to increasing awareness and finding a cure for breast cancer.
“Also, thanks go to the hundreds of individuals who have also supported this cause by attending these events andâ„or stopping by simply to make a donation,” Arons added. “I am proud to be part of a community with this giving spirit.”
