DOUBLE THE FUN

DOUBLE THE FUN
The Brooklyn Papers / Daniel Krieger

A Bay Ridge theater group is celebrating
Halloween with a run of two-faced fun.

The Narrows Community Theater’s production of "Jekyll &
Hyde" will open on Oct. 28 with a collection of homegrown
actors. Bay Ridge’s Dawn Barry Hansen will direct Dyker Heights’s
George Tsalikis in the role of Dr. Jekyll, who really gets a
taste of the good and evil sides that exist in each person. The
musical, with book and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse, ran on Broadway
for almost four years.

In the Halloween tradition of transforming oneself, the character
of Dr. Jekyll absorbs a mind-altering chemical and sports a spooky
costume for a murderous double personality.

With this latest production, Narrows Community Theater Vice President
Ann Gubiotti told GO Brooklyn, "We have a lot of new faces
as well as our seasoned members. [Theater] really brings people
together. The people in the community who are not performers
bring their other talents and work with publicity, the Web site,
tickets and costumes. With each show, we attract new people who
become involved and committed."

Gubiotti said the Narrows Community Theater production of "Jekyll
& Hyde," based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1886 novel,
will also include a live orchestra.

Narrows Community Theater presents "Jekyll & Hyde"
on Oct. 28 at 2 pm and 8 pm, Oct. 29 at 8 pm, Nov. 3 at 8 pm,
Nov. 4 at 8 pm and Nov. 5 at 3 pm at St. Patrick’s Auditorium
(97th Street and Fourth Avenue in Bay Ridge). Tickets are $20
for adults and $15 for seniors, students and children younger
than 12. For more information, visit www.nctheaterny.com
