Cops were called to the corner of Utica Avenue and Avenue J Friday following a multi-vehicle accident involving an NYPD cruiser and a truck belonging to a city agency.
As this paper went to press, it was unclear what caused the October 10 accident.
Witnesses said that the police cruiser and another vehicle impacted with a 38,000-pound Department of Transportation dump truck rumbling through the intersection at noon.
When the dust settled, a portion of the police cruiser was found jammed underneath the truck, officials said.
The other car involved in the impact apparently bounced off the truck and hit a parked car.
The civilian motorist and both police officers were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.
The man behind the wheel of the dump truck was shaken, but otherwise uninjured, officials said.
It was unclear if any summonses had been filed in this case, which is still under investigation.
This was the second major motor vehicle accident involving city public servants to take place in Brooklyn Friday, officials said.
Just an hour and a half after the accident on Utica and Avenue J, a car in Bay Ridge flipped over after slamming into a fire truck.
Four occupants inside the car were hospitalized with minor injuries.
The five firefighters inside the rig weren’t injured.
Officials said that they were responding to a report of smoke coming from an area home.
The report was ultimately unfounded, officials said.
The Bay Ridge accident was also under investigation as this paper went to press.
