To The Editor:
I am responding to Shavana Abruzzo’s column, “Thank you Mr. Prez for a job well done,” A Britisher’s View, 1-15 issue.
Were you aware of Mr. Bush’s low ratings when he left office? An all time low for a president. Just what planet are you on?
This man brought this country to wreck and ruin to the point where the rest of the world has either derided, or condemned, us. When he traveled out of the US, he was constantly dogged by demonstrations.
Do you remember the War on Iraq? I believe it is still in progress. A war that both Bush and Cheney started having to do with the control of oil. Talk about terrorism — were weapons of mass destruction ever found?
Do you recall the Katrina debacle? The worst part was he acted as if those people did not matter. FEMA was another disaster.
Our attitude on stem cell research and contraception is abominable. Talk about unenlightenment.
Let’s talk about Guantanamo Bay, the concentration camp and our secret prisons around the world. Our use of torture on these detainees does not speak well for this country. So much for American democracy.
I am so glad that the American people have come to their senses and elected someone, who is determined to undo the damage that has been done. I am certain you were not very happy about the election, but I feel that we are on the way to becoming a nation that will be respected throughout the world.
