Eviction party

Neighbors of 533 Bergen St. rallied — and held a block party — last week to protest a plan by the building’s new owners to evict four rent-stabilized tenants. Such evictions are legal if the new owners use the building as their own residence, but housing advocates say “owner-use evictions” are becoming an out-of-control trend in gentrifying areas, such as Prospect Heights.
