The DOT began a significant resurfacing project on the Belt Parkway’s approaches to the Mill Basin Drawbridge in Brooklyn. The work includes subsurface repairs and installation of new asphalt and pavement markings.
Work began on theleft lane of Belt Parkway’s eastbound roadway, followed by the closure of the center lane. New applications of asphalt will bring daily improvements to the riding surface as work progresses across all three lanes. Operations will shift lanes and proceed on the eastbound roadway every night until completion. Work on the westbound lanes will immediately follow this phase.
The project is expected to conclude on or about August 31. Traffic will not be detoured off the parkway on to local streets. The pedestrian/bike path will remain open at all times. Bridge spans or moveable decks will be replaced during the reconstruction project scheduled to begin in the fall of 2010.
Lane Closures Effective immediately: 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., left lane of the eastbound roadway; 1-5 a.m., center lane of the eastbound roadway.
Monday through Friday at 5 a.m., all lanes will return to operation, and Saturday at 8 a.m., all lanes will return to operation.
