‘Taxman’ scameth

An Internal Revenue Service impostor tricked a 73rd Street woman into wiring more than $3,000 in a tax scam on June 23.

The woman, who lives between Fort Hamilton Parkway and 10th Avenue in Dyker Heights, got a phone call around 11:15 am from someone who claimed to represent the federal government and told her she owed $3,129 in back taxes, reports state.

The caller instructed the woman to go to a nearby hardware store and buy a pre-paid cash card and send the money, which she did, police said.

Breakneck break-in

A speedy thief broke into a woman’s car parked on 70th Street on June 26 — and stole thousands of dollars in designer items and cash in a matter of minutes.

The victim told cops she parked her car between 10th and 11th avenues in Dyker Heights at 10:50 am and ran inside her home for about 10 minutes, leaving some items on the front street.

When she returned, her Louis Vuitton purse, Gucci wallet containing $1,000 in cash, and some credit cards were gone from where she left them, according to law enforcement sources. The estimated value of the stolen goods was $4,800, reports state.

Brush with burglar

A would-be robber got scared off and left empty-handed from an Eighth Avenue home on June 23 when he saw the homeowner was inside.

The lady was in her home near 62nd Street in Sunset Park when an intruder kicked in an air-conditioning unit on the third floor and entered the home sometime between 2:30 pm and 2:45 pm, but when he saw the woman, he went right back out the way he came in, police said.

The would-be thief didn’t take anything, reports state.

Affront to decency

A burglar busted through the front door of an 88th Street home and left with some jewelry and electronics on June 27.

The resident told police he left his home between Parrot Place and Battery Avenue in Bay Ridge at 8:40 am and returned at 4:30 pm to find that someone took a Raymond Weil watch, two diamond rings, $500 cash, and a silver iPad, officials said.
