Hai-five to this guy!

A few hundred people celebrated Israel — the land of milk and honey — at the Kings Bay Y in Sheepshead Bay on June 5 by cheering on a handful of contestants who scarfed down as many balls of falafel as they could in three minutes. And the winner was certainly no slow-mo! He finished all 18 on his plate just in time — and his mind wasn’t even in the game until the end, said Mill Basinite Shlomo Raymon.

“It was good, I was a little worried, because I went into it thinking my son would eat one, and I’m going to forfeit because he would eat one,” Raymon said. “But then I realized he didn’t eat any and I had four or five left, and then I took it seriously.”

But Raymon still had a little extra kick — his 5-year-old daughter Ariella cheered from the sidelines, which definitely gave him the push to finish strong, he said.

“She was cheering me on, she was like ‘Go daddy!’ She was very excited,” said Raymon.

And festival-goers also enjoyed a disc jockey and a moon bounce — as well as an Israeli marketplace with jewelry, Judaica, and Israeli arts and crafts. It was the perfect mix of activities for both kids and adults, said one mother who attended with her 5-year-old son.

“It was really nice, it was really enjoyable,” said Marine Parker Michal Goldfein. “And the kids loved the moon bounce.”
