A 14-year-old cyclist is in the hospital after he “fell” into a police car on 18th Avenue in Bensonhurst on Wednesday, officials aid.
The teen was near 78th Street and riding in the direction of Mapleton along with three others at about 9:15 pm when a marked police car responding to an assault in progress came up behind the quartet with lights and sirens on, officials said.
Three of the cyclists were able to get out of the way, but the 14-year-old continued peddling along the avenue, and when the police car went to drive around the cyclist, the teenager swerved into the car, smashed the car mirror, and collapsed on the ground, cops said.
Emergency responders took the teen to Maimonides Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition, a department spokesman said.
