Fall’s cooler temperatures mean different types of produce at the McCarren Park Greenmarket.
Gone are the berries, peaches and plums of late summer and instead come the bevy of apples, pears and grapes of early autumn. Suka Di Farms and Red Jacket Orchards really shine with their freshness during what many have called the best apple season in years. With vegetables, a variety of squashes are making their way to the market along with beets, kale, chard, radishes, and sweet peppers. Corn and tomatoes may be on their way out so get them before they’re gone. Also, Baker’s Bounty has special challah loaves for the holidays. L’Chaim!
The market runs on the corner of Bedford Street, Lorimer Street and Nassau Avenue on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
