Parents and loved ones delighted at the creations, set designs and message put forth during St. Francis Xavier Action Youth Program’s “Family Nite,” in which pint−sized participants created puppets, designed a set, and collaborated on scripts for a “values−based puppet show.”
Held at the center, 752 President Street in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn, each skit conveyed the messages put forth by the center, including “heroism” and “generosity.”
Park Slope youngster Jeshua depicted “generosity” during a skit, in which a lovely princess was rescued from an evil wizard, and youngsters Dillon and Nicholas depicted “generosity” in a skit in which they donated their discovered treasures to The Diabetes Foundation, The Cancer Society and St. Francis Action Youth Center.
Art teacher Jessica Filomeno assisted the children in developing scripts and staging the performances, and all in attendance felt that this was “family night [w]as the best ever.”
Center Director Dr. Cathy and parent Jose Rodriguez broke into an impromptu performance of Michael Jackson’s Thriller, which delighted the audience, and the evening’s festivities continued with singing, dancing, and refreshments.
