It wasn’t a highlight-reel victory, but Abraham Lincoln was still able to build momentum heading into an important Friday night contest with Grand Street in Coney Island this week.
The Railsplitters fought through rain and wind on Oct. 2 to top host Curtis 16–6 in Public School Athletic League City Conference football. Lincoln (4–1), which scored all of its points in the first quarter, has won two straight after falling to undefeated Tottenville in Week Three.
Quarterback Jordan Hannah compiled 210 yards of total offense and scored on the ground and in the air with a touchdown pass to Kevin Medy. The Lincoln defense delivered a number of big plays to stifle the Curtis attack. Jordan Jones had an interception and a fumble recovery. Marcus Cameron and Marvin Saint Fort both recovered fumbles.
It sets up a matchup against unbeaten Grand Street this week. Lincoln, the two-time defending city champions, ended the Wolves’ season in the semifinals a year ago.
Grand Street 34, Campus Magnet 0: Sharif Harris-Legree completed 11 of 15 passes for 141 yards and two touchdowns, and also ran for 56 yards and a score for Grand Street (5–0). Kareem Davis caught six passes for 104 yards and two scores and Taysir Mack hauled in a touchdown pass. Rahmel Ashby ran for 188 yards on 16 carries and Michael Charles returned a fumble for a touchdown.
Erasmus Hall 35, Flushing 7: Quarterback Aaron Grant compiled 250 yards of total offense and four touchdowns, including three on the ground for Erasmus Hall (4–1). Nelson Tyler ran for a score and Aron Cruickshank caught four passes for 63 yards and a touchdown.
Midwood 22, Port Richmond 13: Darryl Robinson scored a 79-yard touchdown on a double-reverse pass from Casey Boston for Midwood (4–1). Boston also threw a 75-yard touchdown pass. Carl Colas added a 27-yard scoring run and had 16 carries for 110 yards.
South Shore 36, Jefferson 2: Willerm Greffin carried the ball 10 times for 130 yards and a touchdown for South Shore (5–0). Armand Campbell and DeAndre Robinson each added rushing scores. Aniah Prescod recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown.
Poly Prep 25, Eastern Christian 0: Quarterback Salim Turner-Muhammad posted 184 yards of total offense and three touchdowns for Poly Prep (3–1). Abdoulaye Konate carried the ball nine times for 77 yards and a score and made nine tackles.
DeWitt Clinton 28, New Utrecht 6: Kevin Belgrave carried the ball 13 times for 131 yards and touchdown for New Utrecht (2–3). Ethan Neufville made five tackles and added an interception.
James Madison 46, Sheepshead Bay 22: Quarterback Shamar Logan had 266 yards of total offense and four touchdowns for James Madison (4–1). Keenan Sylvester carried the ball seven times for 177 yards and two scores and Naahman Gumbs added a 175 yards on the ground and a rushing score and also had a receiving touchdown. Daniel Jefferson also hauled in a touchdown pass.
Grady 21, Tilden 20: Quarterback Maxene Jeudy compiled 328 yards of total offense and three scores for Grady (3–2). Jeudy threw touchdown passes to Daquan Workman and Roham Matthews (three catches, 129 yards). Kyle Sutton and Avery McAlpin-Wilson had rushing touchdowns for Tilden (3–2) and Jordan Woodard connected with Fred David for a score through the air.
Franklin D. Roosevelt 36, Automotive 12: Nadir Hassan went three of four passing for 76 yards and touchdown passes to Re John Williams and Tyler Cowell for FDR (3–2). Murad Pashayev, Rashaun Coleman, Russell Bourne and Williams each ran for scores.
Jashawn Joyner completed 6 of 9 passes for 132 yards and a score or Automotive (0–5).
Eagle Academy II 12, East Harlem Pride 8: Ramell Redd carried the ball 14 times for 178 yards for Eagle II (5–0).
