Fishy situation

A slimy scamp stole a fish tank — then attacked the good Samaritan who tried to stop him — at a store on Avenue Y on May 9, police say.

Authorities say the cretin grabbed the fish tank from a shop near E. 16th Street at 8:30 pm. A passerby saw the crime in progress and tried to stop it — but police say the crook pushed the victim with the tank’s stand.

The perp fled in a gray sports utility vehicle, according to reports.

Nighttime nuisance

Cops say two nocturnal ne’er-do-wells broke into a 59-year-old woman’s home on Emmons Avenue on May 10 — while she was sleeping — and her stole credit cards.

Authorities say the lawbreakers entered into the apartment near Knapp Street at 5 am. The robbers stole the woman’s credit cards, which have since been cancelled.

Police say there is surveillance video of the duo entering and leaving the lobby of the building.

Technology tyrants

Two teenager swindlers attempted to steal a 14-year-old boy’s phone on E. 19th Street on May 6 by pretending they needed it to call a parent, according to authorities.

Authorities said the duo approached the victim near Quentin Road at 9 am. Police say one of the suspects reportedly said, “Can I use your phone to call my parent?”

When the victim said no, police say the hucksters pinned him up against a fence and tried to steal his phone.

Big break-in

A burglar broke into an apartment on Avenue V on May 5 and stole thousands of dollars of electronics and jewelry, according to authorities.

Police say the wretch pried open the front door of the residence on E. 18th Street at 7 am. Cops say the crook stole electronics, four watches, and six rings.

Tone-deaf teen

Police say a delinquent stole a cellphone from a teenager on Avenue X on May 4.

Cops say the thief punched the victim in the face while the two were near Nostrand Avenue at 7:30 am. The rascal then snatched the cellphone and fled, an officer stated.
