Dirty dancer
A group of death-defying (or at least gonorrhea-defying) dancers will prance across canoes floating on the toxic Gowanus Canal this afternoon, all while dressed in discarded plastic bags. The performance from Artichoke Dance Company is about the importance of clean water, and afterwards you can follow in their footsteps — if you dare— by taking a kayak tour along the Canal.

Get thee to a nunnery! Theater for the New City’s production of the Shakespearean problem play “Measure for Measure” — which opens tonight — sends the audience through the halls of Mistress Overdone’s brothel (a “nunnery” in Elizabethan slang), before emerging to watch a show in which a hypocritical judge lusts for an actual nun. Show up early to navigate the naughty scene.
