Bizarre filmmaker Guy Maddin’s latest tribute to old-timey cinema techniques starts a three-night screening at Videology tonight. Nominally, “The Forbidden Room” is about a woodsman who mysteriously appears aboard a submarine, but it is probably best to enjoy the visuals without worrying too much about the plot.

The mobs of Black Friday shoppers should have subsided slightly, so venture out of your bunker today for the Brooklyn Holiday Bazaar, featuring gift items from more than 40 local makers, cocktails from Brooklyn distillers, and a craft activity for kids. The market continues on Sunday.

Illustrator Molly Crabapple has sketched prisoners at Gitmo, the protests at Occupy Wall Street, and burlesque dancers on stage. Tonight she unveils her new book “Drawing Blood,” which chronicles her “witness journalism” over the last 15 years in words and pictures, and chats with journalist Matt Taibbi.

War on Christmas: The bizarre film “Santa Conquers the Martians” might not be included in the “Kevin Geeks Out” holiday special on Dec. 3, but it is certainly the sort of the thing the comedy and film-clip show would discuss.

Booo-urns!

“Simpsons” voice actor Harry Shearer and singer Judith Owen host a festive throw-back holiday show. Their celebrity-stuffed variety show “Christmas Without Tears” will include performances from Alan Cumming, Mario Cantone, Paul Shaffer, Fred Willard, Bela Fleck, Olympia Dukakis, and many others. Proceeds support the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

The holiday special episode of monthly comedy and film clip show “Kevin Geeks Out,” will feature stories from behind-the-scenes of Macy’s Santaland, Christmas clips from the Found Footage Festival, and someone arguing that the trainwreck “A Diva’s Carol” should be considered a new holiday classic. Have some drinks and get your picture taken with Santa!
