Mer-made in Brooklyn

The fishy femmes become part of our world at the annual Coney Island Mermaid Parade! Briny beauties will walk on those — whaddaya call ‘em? Oh, yeah — feet! along Surf Avenue, displaying elaborate costumes for a crowd packed like sardines to see the city’s biggest art parade.

1 pm (W. 21st St. and Surf Avenue in Coney Island). www.coneyisland.com]. Free.

Circle of life

No need to rush to catch Coney Island during daylight — today is the longest day of the year! And the Longest Day Project has teamed up with the Wonder Wheel to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association, with one dollar from each of today’s tickets to the big wheel going to to the dementia research and treatment group.

Noon–closing at Deno’s Wonder Wheel Amusement Park (3059 W. 12th St. at the Boardwalk in Coney Island, www.wonderwheel.com). $7.

Crafty competition

Bored by basic beer? Tonight, five master mixologists concoct creative cocktails from Brooklyn Brewery beers in a bartender battle. Visitors can try them each of them and vote for the best.

Revolutionary: Every ticket sold for the Wonder Wheel on June 21 will lead to a one dollar donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Exploring new worlds, seeking out new life and new civilizations — that surely gives one cosmic insight on trivia competitions. Park Slope’s own Star Trek captain Patrick Stewart will be on stage tonight, answering brain teasers on the NPR quiz show “Ask Me Another.”

7:30 pm at the Bell House [149 Seventh St. between Second and Third streets in Gowanus, (718) 643–6510, www.thebellhouseny.com]. $25 ($20 in advance).

Humans are delicious

Years of watching Syfy movies has taught us that literally all animals are vicious killers with a taste for human blood. If Nitehawk recognizes this truth with an “animals attack” film series, starting tonight with a video clip show of killer beasts hosted by comedian Kevin Maher.

9:30 pm at Nitehawk Cinema [136 Metropolitan Ave. between Wythe Avenue and Berry Street in Williamsburg, (718) 384–3980, www.nitehawkcinema.com]. $15.

Candygram: “Sharknado 2” is surely among the best of the “animals attack” film genre under discussion at Nitehawk on June 18.
