Jazzed up

Brooklyn jazz singer and songwriter Alicia Olatuja, who performed as a soloist with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir at Obama’s second inauguration, returns to her home borough, belting out a selection of tunes from her upcoming album “Intuition: Songs from the Minds of Women.”

Per-sisters

Former First Daughter Chelsea Clinton will read from and discusses her new picture book “She Persisted Around the World: 13 Women Who Changed History,” along with illustrator Alexandra Boiger. The sequel to her book about 13 notable American women showcases British author J.K. Rowling, Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai, and Marie Curie, among others.

Paint the town

Last week’s performance at the Brooklyn Museum sold out, but you can still get tickets to Little Cinema’s immersive presentation of “Basquiat.” The biopic about the celebrated New York painter, which features rock icon David Bowie as Andy Warhol, will get original dance numbers, aerial performances, live music from Basquiat’s friend Brian Kelly, and video projections. With another showing on March 14.

Sing out: Powerhouse singer Alicia Olatuja will perform a concert of jazz songs from her upcoming album “Intuition,” at the Kumble Theater on March 10.

Celebrate Einstein’s 139th birthday with science, history, puppets, and beer! The group Astronomy on Tap will host “Our Friend Albert,” an evening of quick lectures from four different astro-scientists, intermixed with scenes from a puppet show about Einstein and his wife, titled “Friends Call Me Albert.”
