Festive frolickers made merry by igniting the spirit of joy during a Chanukah festival presented by the Flatbush Park Jewish Center.
Mom, dad and the kids ushered in the Festival of Lights with a program of celebration, which included the illumination of a menorah, and plenty of carnival-style amusements and attractions at the synagogue, 6363 Avenue U.
Chanukah, also spelled Hanukkah, is marked by the lighting of eight candles in a menorah, beginning on the 25th day of the lunar month of Kislev. Lasting for eight days it commemorates the restoration of traditional worship and the rededication of the temple in Jerusalem following the Jewish victory over the troops of Syrian emperor Antiochus.
