‘Forty Hours of Devotion’

The RC Parish of St. Finbar will celebrate the traditional “Forty Hours Devotion” beginning with Mass at 7:30 p.m., May 23 and ending with the 11:45 a.m. Mass, May 25.

During this feast, the church will set aside a special day to commemorate “The Real Presence of Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament.”

Following the 11:45 a.m. Mass, there will be a solemn outdoor procession with the Blessed Sacrament, around the block of the church. This procession will include all the faithful singing hymns of praise.

The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed continuously, and volunteer adorers are needed to sign up for one hour time slots, beginning at 9 p.m., May 23 and ending at 8 a.m., May 25.

The church will remain open throughout the night with police presence to ensure safety. St. Finbar encourages everyone to sign up and volunteer for a one hour time slot.

The Solemnity of Corpus Christi will be observed at the church, Benson Avenue & Bay 20th Street, May 25.

This solemn outdoor procession is a centuries-old tradition in the church and will be observed by parishes throughout the world on the same day.
