Five local women were hailed for their “outstanding” service to Brooklyn during an awards ceremony presented by State Senator Marty Golden.
The group was delivered the tall salute during a Women’s History Month tribute at the Bay Ridge Manor, 476 76th Street, attended by a distinguished roster of grassroots leaders.
The honorees were: Eddie Bellochino, girl scout leader, St. Frances Cabrini, 35 Bay 11th Street; Sylvia LaCerra, former principal, Public School 200, 1940 Benson Avenue; Police Officer Susan Porcello, 68th Precinct, Bay Ridge; and Janice Yang, Asian Community Outreach, Maimonides Medical Center, 4802 10th Avenue.
The celebration, said Golden, was “a time for our nation as a collection of communities to highlight and honor those women who have brought about change through their untiring efforts, and to pay tribute to the women who have made a difference.”
