State Senator Martin J. Golden has joined with the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program in their October breast cancer awareness campaign to urge women to get mammograms.
Golden will host free mammography screenings in conjunction with the American Italian Cancer Foundation at his district office, 3604 Quentin Road in the Marine Park section of Brooklyn, September 29. The 37-foot mobile mammography van, staffed completely by women, will be there from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
To locate an accredited mammography facility nearby, call the Adelphi New York Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program at 800-877-8077.
Callers may also receive emotional support from the hotline’s specially trained volunteers, most of whom are women who have had breast cancer. All services are free. For more, visit www.adelphi.edu/nysbreastcancer.
