As layoffs continue to mount amid the recession, more New Yorkers suddenly find themselves unemployed and without essential health insurance coverage.
As a health plan dedicated to serving the uninsured, Fidelis Care provides local children and families with free or low−cost health insurance through New York State’s Child Health Plus, Family Health Plus, and Medicaid Managed Care programs. As the New York State Catholic Health Plan, Fidelis Care is the largest health plan offering government−sponsored health programs in the state.
Fidelis Care’s programs offer comprehensive coverage for families and individuals, including regular checkups, hospitalization, emergency treatment, lab tests, x−rays, eye care, dental care, well−child visits, immunizations, preventive care, and more.
Adults ages 19−64 may qualify for low−cost health coverage through Family Health Plus, based on their household size and gross monthly income.
The program is available to single adults, couples without children, and parents who are residents of New York state. There is no cost to apply and no deductibles once enrolled.
What most don’t realize is that there is no reason for any child in New York to go without health insurance for any length of time. All children under 19 are eligible for Child Health Plus. The cost of coverage depends on household size and total gross household income. Parents pay either nothing, $9, $15, or full premium (approximately $100) monthly per child.
There is no maximum income as long as applicants meet the eligibility requirements.
