Free tennis lessons

The New York Junior Tennis League is currently offering free tennis to youngsters ages 6-18 at various locations throughout the New York City as part of is annual summer program. Trained coaches will provide a comprehensive schedule of instruction, practice and play for all levels.

The summer program, which runs through August 22, includes special trips, tournaments, contests and educational guidance programs. Tennis activities include group instruction, practice and USTA Junior Team Tennis match play. Each site provides loaner tennis racquets and balls.

Parents must register their children at the NYJTL Community Tennis Center that they select. All children are welcome at all locations and local community children’s groups are also encouraged to attend.

The New York Junior Tennis League Free Summer Tennis Programs will be held at the following Brooklyn locations:

McKinley Park, Fort Hamilton & Bay Ridge parkways; Mondays-Fridays, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

PS 219 (opens August 4), 1060 Clarkson Avenue; Mondays-Fridays, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

PS 238, 1633 East Eighth Street; Mondays-Fridays, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

PS 249, 18 Marlborough Road; Mondays-Fridays, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

PS 380 (opening TBA), 2655 East 29th Street; hours to be determined

PS 52 (opening TBA), 370 Marcy Avenue; hours to be determined

PS 9 (opens August 4), 80 Underhill Avenue; Mondays-Fridays, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
