Glittering prizes for Kings Bay youth

Watch out, Eli Manning!

Brooklyn’s gridiron gladiators were in for laurels galore during a football awards breakfast presented by the Kings Bay Youth Organization – and attended by former New York Jets’ star Fred Baxter.

The plaudits, held at St. Mark School, East 18th Street and Avenue Z, hailed youngsters in, among others, the Bengals, Wildcats, Cougars, Jaguars and Lions teams, and presented them with trophies and plaques of commendation, including “Most Improved Player,” and team awards in addition to captain’s accolades and participation honors.

Kings Bay’s football season begins in the middle of September and lasts through early December. Football practice occurs two or three times a week, with one game being played per week. Games are played at Kings Bay’s fields at Coyle Street, between Shore Parkway and Avenue Z.
