Go-green events

Public School 15 Student Roundtable members are sponsoring several ‘Go Green’ events in their school and Red Hook community throughout May and June.

The first “GRRReen Festival” will take place at the new PS 15 playground, May 9 for the students of PS 15, 71 Sullivan Street, from 9:35-11:45 a.m.

The PS 15 Student Roundtable is currently planning “Go Grrreen Festivals” to raise awareness about environmental concerns in their local and global community and to promote reducing, reusing, and recycling.

The festivals will provide students and neighborhood residents with environmental awareness information. Students will also hand out environmentally-friendly prizes and products such as recycling bins, reusable grocery bags, and energy saving light bulbs.

With a grant from Common Cents, the Office of Sara Gonzalez, and Children for Children, the student-run philanthropy group has already begun a bird habitat and recycling program at their school.
