Green reads at PS 107

OK, Readings on the Fourth Floor — quite possibly the only elementary-school fundraiser frequented by the Giants of American Letters — is still raising money to buy dead-tree-based books. But on Jan. 21, the Park Slope school’s annual series will feature authors who write about sustainability.

To kick off the fifth-annual reading series, journalist and PS 107 parent Elizabeth Royte, who wrote “Bottlemania,” will be joined by Helen Coronato (pictured), author of “Eco-Friendly Families,” and Starre Vartan, who wrote “The Eco-Chick Guide to Life.”

The PS 107 reading series has gotten on the borough’s cultural radar screen, thanks to appearances by members of the Brooklyn literati, including Jonathan Lethem, Paul Auster, John Hodgman, Mo Willems and Jonathan Safran Foer.

The schedule for the rest of the year is open, but the rumors are that Foer, whose novel, “Everything is Illuminated,” made him the greatest writer of his generation, will show up. Stay tuned.

Readings on the Fourth Floor, Jan. 21, at PS 107 (1301 Eighth Ave., between 13th and 14th streets in Park Slope), 7:30 pm. Tickets, $15 in advance/$20 at the door. For info, visit: www.ps107.org.
