Punch and filch
A thug and his partner knocked a man in the head and stole his iPod on Seventh Avenue early on April 20.
The victim was between 12th and 13th streets at around 2:20 am when the mugger punched him on his right ear. The perp said, “We are going to take your things. I have a gun. I am going to shoot you!” Then the two brutes grabbed his iPod and ran.
Smokin’ steal
A sneaky thief nabbed $14,725 worth of goods and cash from a Fourth Avenue deli on April 23.
Just after midnight, the victim easily entered the store, at Union Street, because it is under construction. The perp pinched 238 packs of cigarettes, security cameras, the security system and $2,000.
That’s rubbish!
A man stole 27 bronze and pewter statues from a man who asked for his help in moving on March 30.
The victim hired the mover to take a bag of figurines to his new address on President Street, between Eighth Avenue and Prospect Park West. When the victim got home and opened up the bag, he found only dirty laundry inside.
Diamond dash
A crook stole almost $4,000 worth of jewelry from a Fifth Avenue collectibles store on April 22.
The perp walked in to the store, between President and Union streets, at around 4:15 pm, pretending to be a customer. When the employees were distracted, the perp grabbed some jewelry and bolted.
Copper rush
A bandit stole $5,800 worth of copper wire from a Fourth Avenue construction site sometime between April 8 and 18.
The perp sneaked onto the site, which is between Sixth and Seventh streets, by removing a makeshift plywood window. A security guard did not notice the thief take the once-dross, but now- valuable metal wiring.
Stoop stop
A thief nabbed a $1,500 antique camera from a Fifth Avenue apartment on April 25.
The victim’s roommates were having a stoop sale in front of the building, between 11th and 12th streets, from 8 am until 5 pm. The victim reported that a lot of people had access to the apartment, and the perp took the chance to bring home a souvenir.
Digital jackpot
A robber bashed through the door of a 10th Street apartment on April 24, taking $4,818 worth of stuff.
The victim told cops that he left his apartment, which is between Seventh and Eighth avenues, at 6:30 am, and returned 14 hours later to find his front door off its hinges and three DVD players, a VCR, a sound system, two cameras and some jewelry were gone.
Alarmed!
A thug smashed the window of a 2004 Lexus, stealing the airbag and center console, on President Street overnight on April 21.
The victim left her car in front of her home, between Seventh and Eighth avenues, at around 8:30 pm. At 6 the next morning, she heard the car’s alarm going off and discovered the broken window smashed and the missing console, which contained a satellite-guided map system and a fancy radio.
Pathmark pains
The 12th Street Pathmark was not the place for savings last week:
• A shoplifter was arrested on April 20 for trying to get away with $504 worth of merchandise at around 1 pm from the store, which is on Second Avenue.
A security guard intervened when the bandit fled, but the hoodlum pulled out a knife and waved it, saying, “I’m leaving.” The guard knocked the knife away and locked the perp in the store’s office until the cops arrived.
• Three days later, two men were arrested for attacking another man with a baseball bat and a knife in the market’s parking lot. The victim was in the lot at around 1:20 pm when the two men yelled at him and attacked him.
One perp hit the poor guy with the bat, while the other thug waved a knife around and kicked the victim.
