Bandana bummer
A thug sporting a white bandana robbed a woman at gunpoint as she walked down Harrison Avenue on Aug. 16.
The 29-year-old victim was at the corner of Wallabout Street at around 12:50 am when the suspect, with the bandana covering the lower half of his face, approached her, flashed a gun and ordered her to kneel on the ground.
The victim complied, and the man grabbed her wallet and cellphone before fleeing.
Lots of break-ins
At least three neighborhood homes were broken into last week. Here’s a roundup:
• On Aug. 13, thieves nabbed more than $4,000 in electronics from a Berry Street basement apartment. The 30-year-old victim told cops that he arrived home at around 12:30 pm and noticed the front gate and front door to his apartment, which is between South First and Grand streets, wide open and a laptop and digital camera missing.
• Two days later, someone burgled a Grand Street home and got a fancy cellphone. The 30-year-old resident of the unit, which is between Catherine Street and Marcy Avenue, came home at around noon and found the suspect searching through his room for loot. When the thief noticed the victim standing in the doorway, he grabbed a $350 cellphone and made a quick escape out an open rear window.
• Someone broke into a Taylor Street house sometime between Aug. 15 and 17. The 46-year-old owner of the house, between Kent and Wythe avenues, told cops that he locked all the doors when he left for a weekend trip, but when he returned, the front door was wide open and $2,000 was gone.
Knick knock
Someone broke into a Knickerbocker Avenue bodega overnight on Aug. 13 and snatched cash and a cash machine.
The owner of the store, which is between Grattan and Thames streets, told cops that he closed the shop at around 11 pm. When he returned eight hours later, he noticed that someone had broken through the south wall of the building and grabbed $400 from the register as well as an ATM.
Grand snatch
A sticky-fingered shopper snatched a woman’s wallet from her purse as she browsed a Grand Street shoe store on Aug. 13.
The victim, 81, said she was shopping in the store, between Graham Avenue and Humboldt Street, at around 12:30 pm. When she went to pay for her new shoes half an hour later, she noticed her wallet was missing form inside her purse.
The thief made off with $130, as well as various debit or credit cards.— Emily Lavin
