At least two turkeys have reason to be thankful this Thanskgiving — not only are they alive, but they’re kicking!
Meat — er, we meant to say meet — Deborah and Madame, two bourbon red turkeys who are now on display at the Prospect Park Zoo, thanks to the Wildlife Conservation Society, which saved them from an upstate farm just before they would have gone on display on someone’s table.
And what’s even better than not being sacrificed on America’s Thanksgiving altar? Deborah and Madame are now housed with Franklin, the zoo’s male turkey. That old fool tom never had it so good! Zookeepers told The Brooklyn Paper that he’s strutting his stuff all around the turkey pen, showing off for his new roommates, a precursor to, as we say in the newspaper business, starting a family.
