A group of “outstanding” Italian Americans were hailed for their contributions to the community when State Senator Marty Golden honored a diverse group of notables for heritage pride month.
Golden bestowed the honors as part a program of tribute at C & C Caterers, 7611 18th Avenue.
Among the honorees were: Joseph Bernardo, community activist in Marine Park and member of Millennium’s “Active Seniors on the Go” program; Ida D’Amelio, teacher, Public School 176, 1225 69th Street, and board member, Neighborhood Improvement Association; Charles Pomaro, assistant principal, Brooklyn Technical High School, 29 Fort Greene Place, and member of Bay Ridge-Bensonhurst Parks Task Force; Dr. Salvatore Ferrera, president of Xavreian High School, 7100 Shore Road; and Joseph Rizzi, Federation of Italian-American Organizations.
