Police shot and killed a knife-wielding man who stabbed his roommate in Carroll Gardens on Friday — then charged at uniformed officers with the blade, investigators said.
Court Street resident Ron Lindo told The Brooklyn Paper that Jackson Alexandre jabbed him in the shoulder inside their apartment at about 8 pm after Lindo told Alexandre that he should seek psychiatric help.
“I noticed that he was stressed for the past couple of days. He was very withdrawn and paranoid,” said a stitched-up Lindo, who lived with Alexandre at the second-floor residence near Hamilton Avenue for the past year. “I wanted him to go to the hospital. I figured he needed some kind of treatment.”
That’s when Alexandre, 28, abruptly whipped out a blade, dug it into the front of Lindo’s right shoulder, and chased a friend who was at the apartment out of the building, said Lindo.
“He gave me a strange look and just stabbed me. I felt the blood flowing instantly,” said the 53-year-old, who claims doctors determined his wound to be an inch deep. “I didn’t see it coming. I was so surprised and I thought I was going to bleed to death.”
Police arrived on the scene shortly after Lindo called 911 from inside the Zen Spa — the storefront downstairs from the apartment where he sought help.
Lindo spotted Alexandre on the street and pointed him out as he retold the incident to the cops from the 76th Precinct, investigators said.
Officers told Alexandre to drop the weapon, but the man with the blade refused to comply and lunged at cops, according to police sources.
Cops opened fire on Alexandre, striking him in the stomach, police said.
“When he was getting shot he was still attacking. It was like he was possessed,” said Lindo, who claims Alexandre provoked cops by screaming obscenities at them before multiple shots were fired. “He was coming at them like a pit-bull — ferocious.”
“It looked like he wanted to die,” said Lindo. “He knew they were going to shoot him.”
Paramedics took Lindo and Alexandre to Lutheran Medical Center where Alexandre was pronounced dead on arrival, said cops.
The officers were taken to Long Island College Hospital for tinnitus.
Mourners set up memorial for Alexandre, who was nicknamed “Bam Bam,” at the Court Street, which had been transformed into a taped-off crime scene on Friday night.
“You won’t be forgotten. Rest in peace our dear friend,” a sign with Alexandre’s picture read.
The investigation is ongoing, cops said.
