’HEDDA’ GALA

’HEDDA’ GALA

Ever longed to
tread the boards of the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Opera House?
On Tuesday, gala ticket holders will not only have the opportunity
to sip cocktails on that famous stage, but to do it alongside
Australian actress Cate Blanchett, best known for roles in "Elizabeth,"
"The Aviator" and the "Lord of the Rings"
trilogy.

Blanchett stars in Sydney Theatre Company’s "Hedda Gabler,"
which runs from Feb. 28 through March 26 at the Brooklyn Academy
of Music’s Harvey Theater.

The opening night performance is part of a gala evening to benefit
BAM and the Sydney Theatre. The evening – which marks Blanchett’s
U.S. stage debut – includes pre-show cocktails and dinner on
the Opera House stage; a performance of "Hedda Gabler,"
directed by Robyn Nevin, at the BAM Harvey Theater; and a post-show
dessert reception with the "Hedda Gabler" cast on the
Opera House stage.

The event, helmed by a veritable army of party pros, promises
to be an affair to remember. Catering is by Great Performances,
GUCCI will handle the décor and the floral treatments
are by Kurt Rausch.

Tickets to the "festive attire" event are going fast
– performance and dessert reception tickets have already
sold out – but seats to the entire evening are available for
$1,000 and $2,500 for priority seating.

For benefit tickets, contact BAM Patron Services at (718) 636-4182.
For $30-$85 tickets for March performances, call (718) 636-4100.
The BAM Harvey Theater is located at 651 Fulton St., at Ashland
