Make a clean sweep of your home and neighborhood by joining the Park Slope Civic Council’s annual beautification, clean-up and recycling event, the Fall Civic Sweep, October 17.
Put on your old clothes and come to the Prospect Park YMCA, Ninth Street between Fifth & Sixth avenues, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (rain or shine) to join other volunteers in painting over graffiti, mulching trees, planting daffodil bulbs, raking leaves, picking up litter and other projects. You can also bring unwanted electronic devices for collection by Greg’s Express.
There will be refreshments and bluegrass music courtesy of Vincent Cross, and Good Companywill provide all tools and supplies. Additionally, there will be household recycling information from NYC Council on the Environment and “I Made Park Slope Cleaner Today” stickers for all volunteers. Community Service vouchers are also available.
On the same day you can also take additional items to be recycled to the following locations:
• Electronicsat 3R Living at the Old Stone House in Washington Park
• Used batteries at J & R Television on Seventh Avenue
• Clothing and textiles at Wearable Collections at the Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket.
