Help for ailing Coney b’walk

The weary wooden warrior received a financial boost to the tune of $10 million when Assemblymembers Steven Cymbrowitz and Alec Brook-Krasny presented the Parks Department with funds to retool the Coney Island Boardwalk.

The exchange occurred during a ceremony on the world-famous footpath at West 10th Street, where the lawmakers handed over a check to City Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe and Brooklyn Parks Commissioner Julius Spiegel.

The 85-year-old Riegelmann Boardwalk, which spans the historic amusement district, is in urgent need of repair and has been reconstructed and patched up numerous times since its completion in 1923.

Reconstruction is scheduled to begin in the fall from West 12th to West 15th streets with funds provided by Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

The assemblymembers’ allocation will be used for additional repairs along the boardwalk’s length.
