Cops are looking for a brazen pair of gun-toting hooligans who terrified two Bensonhurst families residing in the same home.
Officials said that the two thieves crept into an upstairs apartment, bound and gagged the tenants they found there and then kicked in the homeowner’s door, claiming that they were police officers.
The action began just before 2:30 a.m. when the two thieves, described dark skinned Hispanic males in their twenties, entered an attic apartment through a kitchen window.
The thieves scaled the side of the three-family home through a small fire escape connected to the window, officials said.
Police were told that the suspects woke up the two victims in the upstairs apartment and forced them into a closet at gunpoint, officials said.
They then crept down a common stairway to the second floor apartment rented by a Daily News deliveryman and his family.
Sources said that the two males claimed to be cops, but then jumped in claiming that they were looking for the “route money.”
When the three victims said that the Daily News deliveryman, who was not home at the time, took the route money with him, they pistol-whipped one of the victims and forced them to open the safe.
The two thieves made off with $450 in cash, some electronics and a cell phone.
No serious injuries were reported.
Officials said that when the Daily News deliveryman returned home, he found his family tied up.
Police sources said that the thieves must have targeted the home thinking that there was a large amount of cash there. The two thieves were still at large as this paper went to press.
Cops are asking anyone with information regarding this robbery to come forward.
