Cyclones 5
Muckdogs 4
Thursday, Aug. 6, at Batavia
The Cyclones bullpen did everything it could to blow this game, but Sam Honeck’s two-run single in the ninth sealed the victory.
The Cyclones had gotten on the board first on a Scott Grimes single.
After Batavia got that run back, the Clones struck again in the seventh on a Luis Nieves RBI single.
Another run scored in the eighth on a Grimes RBI single — which might have scored two, but Nicholas Santomauro was gunned down at the plate. In all, the newcomer Grimes was 3-for-4 on the night.
Honeck’s two ribbies gave the Cyclones a 5–1 lead, but Matias Carrillo gave up three runs in the ninth.
Bobby Gagg got his first Cyclones save by putting out the fire.
The win gave the Clones a commanding five-game lead in the McNamara Division.
