The Brooklyn Public Library’s Kings Highway branch doesn’t open until June 11 but this paper got a sneak peek at the new digs.
A tour of the library, which underwent an exhaustive renovation, showed that Brooklynites will soon be reading in style.
The three−story facility at 2115 Ocean Avenue now boasts new computers, WiFi, modern pale wood tables and chairs, and endless stacks of books.
There’s an elevator, a children’s reading room, another quiet reading room on the lower level, and special areas designed specifically for children, teens and adults. The building’s windows and plumbing system have also been upgraded.
A grand opening celebration will be held on June 11.
At 10:30 a.m., singer−songwriter Patricia Shih will stage a kid−friendly performance.
A ribbon−cutting ceremony will follow at 11 a.m.
At 6 p.m., the Joey Morant Jazz Duo, which “evokes the spirit of Louis Armstrong,” will perform.
