Noël Coward, a true renaissance man, is one of the major writers of the 20th century. He is remembered for his witty, sophisticated plays, but his total body of work is much more.
Ken Starrett, North American director of The Noel Coward Society, will give a presentation, May 22 at 2 p.m. as part of the monthly Speaker Series for Seniors,” on the many aspects of “The Master” and his fascinating career as a writer, composer, actor, director, cabaret performer and painter.
At the age of 14, Starrett played the role of Simon in “Hay Fever,” which began a lifelong passion for the works of Noël Coward. Starrett worked in various capacities in film, television, cabarets and nightclubs, on Broadway, off-Broadway and touring plays and musicals.
His favorite roles have been Fagin in “Oliver,” Charley in “Where’s Charley” and Sherlock in “Sherlock Holmes.”
Heights and Hill Community Council Speaker events take place at the Brooklyn Historical Society, 128 Pierrepont Street at Clinton Street.
