The Cobble Hill Health Center’s Therapeutic Recreation Department, in paying homage to spirituality’s role in healing, held its eagerly anticipated annual Interfaith Celebration.
Residents of the Cobble Hill Health Center, 380 Henry Street, are from many different faiths and the Interfaith Celebration was anchored by prominent neighborhood clergy including Rabbi Simcha Weinstein, of Congregation B’nai Avraham of Brooklyn Heights, and Reverend Julio Gonzalez of the Third Spanish Baptist Church in the Bronx, who spoke of the “Spirituality in Healing,” the theme of the event.
Attendees listened to a performance of Sarah McLachlan’s uplifting song “Angel” sung by Elaine Gay and Sydiya Corbin, Cobble Hill’s activity coordinators, and Music and Drama Specialist Elizabeth Hanson performed “We are the World” by various artists, including Lionel Richieand the late Michael Jackson.
The dance composition, “Lord’s Prayer” from the film “Sarafina,” was performed by the Therapeutic Recreation Department staff. The composition was choreographed by E. Gay, who was also the lead dancer.
