…the blue dress that almost brought down a presidency? It is now part of American history and should be hanging in the Smithsonian.
…a good old−fashioned ‘You’re welcome’? Nobody says it anymore. Say ‘Thank you’ to someone and he will respond with ‘No problem.’
…an honest press? Editorial staffs and columnists are entitled to be biased and make up their own minds. They are not entitled to make up their own facts. John Peter Zenger must be turning over in his grave.
…our boycott of French products? Is it really over? Can I go back to eating Dannon yogurt?
…all those plans about harnessing wind energy? Senator Ted Kennedy made a marvelous speech about controlling this free available source of power but as soon as it was suggested that windmills be constructed in an area near his home he shouted “NIMBY! NIMBY! NIMBY!” Does the word hypocrisy have any meaning here?
…the separation of church and state? How can Hawaii create a special annual event called Islam Day? Why not add some called Buddhism Day, Episcopalian Day, Taoism Day or Chondogyo Day, to name a few? Let’s be fair to everyone. I have a feeling that this may hurt some of The Aloha State’s tourism. I know two people who will not return.
…the aggressive feminists that celebrated women? A California beauty contest winner responds to a contest question about marriage, speaks her mind honestly, states her beliefs that agree with most of the country, agrees with President Obama and is left high, dry and out in the cold by none other than the National Organization of Women. Shame, shame, shame on them for their non−support.
…all those Colin Powell fans who agreed with him when he stated that Americans want to pay more taxes. That’s about as ludicrous as that Biden statement equating the amount of taxes one pays with patriotism.
…that movement to get laws passed that would require voters to show a photo ID before voting? According to surveys, 80% of America believes that everyone should be required to show a photo identification to vote. Only 13% disagree and their reasons are pretty darn weak.
…traditional, mega−marvelous, patriotic flag−waving? I saw very few flags out there on Memorial Day. Flag Day is next week and Independence Day is shortly thereafter. How about doing something to celebrate Old Glory? Go out and buy your own copy of the colors and display it with pride. Sure America has problems. It always did but somehow this nation always managed to rebound.
