According to Nielsen Media Research almost seventy million viewers tuned in to watch the VP debate between Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and Delaware Senator Joe Biden. We know that the VP debate record was set because America wanted to see Mrs. Palin either fall flat on her face or rise to the occasion. So who won? If you listen to those on the left you’ll hear that Senator Biden wiped the floor with her. Signal for a right turn and you’ll find that the beautiful Governor did more than not stumble. She shlooged him good. As usual the overwhelming majority of the political pundits and bloggers wrote most of their reviews well before the event. That’s nothing new. The same thing happens when a political book hits the market. Not only does Amazon.com offer the best prices in town, it permits the readers an opportunity to post their opinions. One can instantly tell the reviewer’s political persuasion. The right always hates a new liberal book while the left is overjoyed – trumpets blare – it’s love – love – love.
Several weeks ago the new Bill O’Reilly book hit the shelves. Forty reviews were written within the first 5 minutes. I don’t think any of the forty had the time to even read the book but, as predicted, it was despised by the left and adored by the right. The real telling is in the sales. Right now it is way up there on the New York Times list of best sellers.
These biased reviews have now reached the movies. The new flick, An American Carol, is a comedy that pokes a lot of fun at the far left. It opened to mediocre reviews and was hated by my liberal friends who didn’t even see it. Yes! I do have liberal friends. It drives them nuts when I just sit there and grin without saying a word.
An American Carol – it is loaded with laughs but only if you happen to be a conservative. Most of the situations are more than merely funny. They are so true. Too true to even be funny.

My president signed a new energy bill that included a twenty-five Billion, that’s Billion with a capitol B, dollar loan package to help Ford, General Motors and Chrysler meet new environmental regulations. The money will help our friends in Michigan retool and open new factories that will make smaller, energy efficient cars. The idea sounds good but when you stop and think about it, the real question is – Will the American automakers manufacture better cars? Stand on any street corner in this country and you cannot help but notice that just about every other car that passes is a Japanese brand. Even those of us that claim to be patriotic stop waving the flag when it comes to automobiles. We are sick and tired of being promised a better car and what have we gotten? Not enough for our hard-earned big bucks. I made up my mind a few years ago. I will no longer listen to the lies coming from Detroit. I own two late model cars and they are both Japanese.
Some things are really worth repeating. This is one of them. Everybody. Stop what you are doing and fire up your computer. Google the following question – “Where would General Motors be without the UAW?”
I know. I know. I wrote about this before but how many of you listened to me. Not enough. Do it now and read the excellent commentary by George Raisman. Then, and only then, will you know where most of the next twenty-five Billion, that’s Billion with a capitol B, dollars will be going. I am StanGershbein@Bellsouth.net saying that this is more than just my opinion. It’s a fact.
