President Bush is, according to most surveys, the most disliked president of this country in decades. The GOP has fallen down on accomplishing what it should have. Very few voters are paying attention to John McCain’s campaign. The Republican Senator has inspired dreadfully little enthusiasm. Voters are paying minuscule attention to the war hero’s statements and promises. More important, the liberal media is not paying any attention to the presumptive Republican candidate. It has been and continues to be in the tank for Barack Obama. He already is, according to the mainstream newspapers and the major TV networks, the new president. The heavyweight members of the media no longer mention Obama’s “friends” and the negativity they brought to his campaign. When was the last time you read about the Raving Reverend? I’m betting that most of us don’t even remember the name of his terrorist friend. And those unkind, despicable words that Michelle Obama said many weeks ago about this wonderful nation have come and gone. The first Lady wannabee is now, according to Vanity Fair, a best-dressed beauty contest winner.
The Democrats are guaranteed major gains in both the House and the Senate. Obama draws crowds like a rock star. He dumped Hillary, which was something most of us favored and now she and her husband whatsisname have thrown their support behind him. He seems to have that young, energetic appearance that appeals to his large following. He is popular and rhetorically skilled. He speaks with the persuasiveness and eloquence that we haven’t heard in a looong time. He is ambitious, determined, motivated and energetic.
Senator Obama seems to be also shifting his position on offshore drilling, something that the great majority of Americans strongly favors. And finally – He has the endorsement and encouragement of Oprah Winfrey.
With everything that I have just mentioned I have to wonder – why is Senator Obama not pulling away in the polls? With so much going for him he should be leading by fifteen, twenty and even twenty-five point’s, yet, as of this writing, both candidates are tied at 44% each.
Ok, gang. You tell me. I’m looking forward to mail from both sides. I beg you please, Don’t be nasty.

I know that it’s hard to believe but I am still getting Emails from Senator Hillary. No matter what she writes she always concludes with a request for a donation. This week I received an Email from Bill. He also ended his letter with a request for a contribution. He explains that “…… you contribute today to help Hillary retire that pesky campaign debt…….”
You might want to know that the “pesky campaign debt” amounts to more than twenty-five million dollars, thirteen million of which is money that she personally loaned her campaign committee. It is money that she still owes herself. In other words, for every dollar you send her fifty cents will wind up in her own private bank account. Her net worth as of the end of last year was almost thirty-five million dollars. Before you write that check you should ask yourself, “How much am I worth?”
OK. Now that you understand you can put the checkbook away.

Ratings for the Oprah Winfrey Show are off about 7%. No. Not for the summer. The 7% decline has been for the whole year. Also, since the start of this year, the circulation of her “O” Magazine has declined 10%. Some say that they’ve grown a bit tired of her. Others say that she can endorse a book and do no harm but since she got herself involved in endorsing a political candidate she’s made a few friends but a lot more enemies. I am StanGershbein@Bellsouth.net reminding you about the old saying that one should never mix business and politics.
