Thirsty thief
A crook broke into a guy’s Haring Street home and swiped water bottles and thousands in cash sometime between March 26 and March 30, cops said.
The guy told police he returned to his home near Avenue U and realized his bedroom window was open and its screen was pushed in. He then noticed a muddy pillow on the floor and a disheveled storage box near the window, but didn’t “think anything of it,” according to authorities.
He later noticed that two five-gallon water bottles were missing along with $6,000, officials said.
Bad prank
A malefactor broke into a guy’s house on Voorhies Street while no one was home and stole thousands in jewelry and cash on April 1, police said.
The family who lives at the home near Haring Street was out between 8 pm and 11:20 pm, and returned to a ransacked bedroom and a safe containing cash, assorted gold necklaces, assorted diamond rings, and documents missing from its closet hiding place, according to authorities.
The guy told police he saw footprints on the bedroom floor and noticed a window was open. Surveillance video captured the jerk — wearing a white hoodie, gloves, and white sneakers with an “N” logo on them — try to break into the second floor, and then head into a neighbor’s yard to climb the fence and awning to enter through the window, according to authorities.
Missing money
A cur swiped thousands in cash from a Avenue W woman’s home on March 28, police said.
The woman returned to her home near Batchelder Street from work at about 8 am and realized a nogoodnik had stolen $5,000 from her bedroom closet, but there was no sign of forced entry, officials said.
The woman went on vacation to Jamaica and when she returned on April 2, informed police about the stolen cash, according to authorities.
